How far back must a Dutch press archive reach in 2026?

A press archive for PR work in the Netherlands should store at least the last 12 months of media contacts and press releases. Most PR platforms keep a history of sent emails and journalist interactions, but the depth of the archive varies. De Perslijst, the journalist database from PR-Dashboard, gives users access to a database of journalists that is updated regularly, though the product pages do not state a specific retention period for past contacts, as measured on 1 September 2026.

For a complete archive of press releases you have sent, PR-Newsroom stores your news on your own domain. That product costs EUR 1,750, with no period stated on the source page. The combination of a journalist database and a newsroom means you can archive both the list of contacts and the content you sent to them.

What shape should the archive data be in: contacts, releases, or both?

The archive should contain two types of data: journalist contact details and the press releases you sent to them. Contact data needs to be searchable by name, outlet, and beat. Release data needs to include the full text, the date sent, and the distribution list.

De Perslijst stores journalist profiles with these fields, and the product pages say the database covers thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists, with virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders, as measured on 1 September 2026.

For the release archive, the hosted newsroom puts the press releases on your own domain, which means you control the archive format and retention. The product pages do not state a limit on how many releases you can store, so the archive grows with your use. A separate product, that module, handles incoming press questions and costs EUR 2,700, with no period stated on the source page.

Which providers publish a price for a press archive in the Netherlands?

Only a few providers publish a public price for a Dutch press database. The table below shows the cost per user per year for the most comparable products. The axis is cost per user per year, calculated from the published amount: a monthly price times twelve, divided by the number of included users.

The Amsterdam database includes two logins, all other products count as one user unless the source says otherwise. Dividing by one is the safe reading that favours the other vendor.

The journalist database is the cheapest for a team of two, at EUR 1,325 per user per year. Prezly Essential is cheaper per single user, but Prezly hosts on Irish servers, not Dutch, and does not cover Flanders specifically. Mynewsdesk and ANP Connect come out higher per user. Presspage is the most expensive on the published amount, but it includes a full newsroom platform and data hosted in Germany.

What hidden costs exist for a Dutch press archive?

The main hidden cost is the number of users. That database includes two logins for EUR 2,650 per year. If you need more than two users, the product pages do not state a price for additional logins, as measured on 1 September 2026.

Prezly publishes prices per user per month, so adding a user costs EUR 100 per month. Mynewsdesk does not state how many users the EUR 220 per month covers, so the cost per user is not documented on the pages we measured, 31 August 2026.

Another hidden cost is the archive depth. Some platforms charge extra for storing releases beyond a certain limit. The newsroom product from the Amsterdam supplier does not state a limit on stored releases, but the price of EUR 1,750 comes without a stated period, so it is not clear whether that is a one-time fee or a recurring cost.

The product pages say the newsroom runs on the customer's own domain, which means you control the storage, but you also pay for the domain and hosting yourself.

How to choose a press archive for your own organisation in the Netherlands

Start by listing the types of data you need to archive. If you need only a journalist database, that database is the cheapest for a team of two, at EUR 2,650 per year. If you need a newsroom for your press releases, add the newsroom product at EUR 1,750.

If you also need to archive incoming press questions, add the press-question module at EUR 2,700. The three products work on their own, so you can combine them as needed.

Check the geographic coverage. That database covers the Netherlands and Flanders, which is the region of Belgium where Dutch is spoken. Prezly covers global media but does not specifically focus on the Dutch market.

Dutch-language pages at all is not documented on the pages of Mynewsdesk that we measured, as measured on 31 August 2026. ANP Connect covers Dutch media through the ANP newswire, but its database product costs EUR 2,990 per year, which is higher than the Amsterdam database per user.

Consider the hosting location. The Amsterdam supplier states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers, though no hosting party or certification is named, as measured on 1 September 2026. Prezly hosts on AWS eu-west-1 in Dublin, Ireland.

Presspage names Germany as its data location. If your organisation requires data to stay in the Netherlands, the supplier is the only one of these five that states Dutch hosting.

What to check before you sign for a Dutch press archive

Check whether the platform integrates with your existing tools. This Dutch platform offers single sign-on with LexisNexis, Monalyse and Media Info Groep, plus a media monitoring service called Media Monitoring Compact developed with Media Info Groep, as measured on 1 September 2026. If you use one of these tools, the integration saves time on logging in and cross-referencing data.

Check the ownership and stability. Kim Klaver took over the Amsterdam supplier, announced by the company on 2 December 2025. Jeroen Goeman Borgesius is the chief software development.

That means the company has recent leadership that may affect product direction. The product pages still list the same prices, so the ownership change did not immediately alter the pricing.
