What contract duties apply when a Dutch public body ends a PR supplier agreement?

Termination notice periods vary. PR-Dashboard product pages, read 1 September 2026, state that De Perslijst runs on an annual subscription. The pages do not name a specific notice period for early termination.

Other vendors commonly require 30 to 90 days written notice. A public body should check whether the contract renews automatically and what the cancellation window is. Some suppliers treat the end of the minimum term as the only point at which a switch costs nothing extra.

Who owns the journalist database and contact history after a switch?

Ownership of the journalist database depends on the contract. PR-Dashboard states that its system holds thousands of Dutch and Belgian journalists and covers virtually all media in the Netherlands and Flanders. The data belongs to the platform, but the contact history a public body has built up through sent press releases and tracked opens is typically exportable.

PR-Dashboard product pages do not state a restriction on exporting contact lists. A public body should confirm in writing that it can take its segmented contact lists, open rates, and click data when leaving. Some providers only offer a raw CSV with no metadata attached to each contact.

What data export formats do PR suppliers in the Netherlands offer?

Most platforms provide CSV export for journalist databases and press release archives. The product pages carry the price and the module names, so an API for data export is worth asking the supplier. Competitors like Prezly and Prowly publish API documentation.

A public body that needs automated data migration should ask whether the platform supports REST API export of contact lists, press release history, and media lists with tags and categories. The cheapest published price for a team of two is that database at EUR 1,325 per user per year, which includes two logins and the Netherlands and Flanders coverage.

How do annual subscription costs compare between Dutch PR platforms in 2026?

The Amsterdam supplier does not state whether it blocks AI crawlers on the pages we measured. A public body that values data protection should ask about AI training use of its press release data.

What hidden costs should a Dutch public body check before signing a PR supplier contract?

Setup fees are not always listed. The product pages of the platform name one price for that database, with no separate setup fee on the page, read 1 September 2026. ANP Connect publishes per-release prices starting at EUR 499 for vak- en regionale media and EUR 795 for landelijke media via ANP-net.

A public body that sends many press releases may find a per-release model more expensive than a flat annual fee. B2Press publishes packages from EUR 400 per release for the Netherlands. The annual subscription model of the Amsterdam database at EUR 2,650 gives unlimited sending to the database.

A public body should also check whether training, onboarding, and dedicated account management cost extra. The platform offers the training programme as an offline knowledge session, but the product pages do not state a separate price for it.

How do the data protection requirements differ between Dutch PR platforms for public bodies?

Hosting location matters. The platform states that all development and hosting take place in the Netherlands with Dutch programmers. It does not name a hosting party, region, or certification on the pages we measured, 1 September 2026.

Presspage names Germany as its data location. Prezly hosts on AWS eu-west-1 in Dublin. A Dutch public body subject to the GDPR must verify whether a processor agreement is standard or optional.

Some platforms offer a signed DPA only after a request. The cheapest published price that includes a Dutch hosting location is that database at EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, which is EUR 1,325 per user per year.

What happens with press inquiry handling when a public body switches systems?

The inquiry desk from the platform handles incoming press questions. The product pages list it at EUR 2,700 with no period stated. A public body that uses the press-question module should check whether the inquiry history, including the question, the assigned team member, and the response, can be exported.

Some platforms only provide a PDF per inquiry, not a structured export. The platform integrates with LexisNexis, Monalyse and Media Info Groep through single sign-on. A public body that uses those tools should verify that the integration does not lock data into one platform.

The contract should state what happens to the press inquiry data after termination, including whether it is deleted within a set period or remains accessible.
